Terms of Use

The rules that apply when you buy a ChessPulse course and use the site and the student dashboard.

Last updated: October 24, 2026

These terms govern your use of chesspulse.co and the ChessPulse student dashboard (together, the “Site”), operated by ChessPulse, and your purchase of ChessPulse courses. By buying a course or using the Site, you accept these terms. Please also read the Refund Policy and the Privacy Policy.

1. The service

ChessPulse sells self-paced online chess courses: pre-recorded video lessons, interactive positions, exercises, assessments and progress tracking in a personal dashboard. Courses are digital content; there is no live coaching unless a course says otherwise.

2. Buying a course

  • Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns, alongside our own support. Paddle's Buyer Terms apply to the payment.
  • The price is shown before you pay. Paddle calculates and collects any sales tax or VAT for your location, which may be included in the price or added to it depending on where you live. A course is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
  • At checkout you choose instant access to the course. Due to the immediate delivery of digital content, purchases are generally final once access begins, subject to applicable consumer protection laws and Paddle's refund policy. See the Refund Policy; we keep a record of your choice.
  • If you buy while signed in, the course is added to your account straight away. If you buy without an account, we email a single-use link to the address you gave at checkout; the course is added to the account that confirms control of that address.
  • “Lifetime access” means access for as long as the course is offered on ChessPulse. If we ever stop offering a course, we will give at least 90 days' notice by email.

3. Your account

  • The information you give us must be accurate and up to date.
  • Your account and course access are personal. Don't share your sign-in details or lesson content with others.
  • If you notice your account being used without permission, tell us right away at hello@chesspulse.co.
  • Students under 18 may use ChessPulse only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for the purchase.

4. Refunds, chargebacks and inactive accounts

Refunds are covered by the Refund Policy. When a purchase is refunded or its payment is reversed through your bank, access to that course ends; if it was your only course, your account is paused until you buy again. Your progress stays saved.

5. Content rights

The lessons, videos, positions, explanations, narration, photographs and design on the Site belong to ChessPulse or are used under licence. Your purchase gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the course for your own study. Copying, downloading (except where a download is offered), recording, reselling, publishing or sharing the content, or using it commercially, is not allowed without our written permission.

6. Conduct

Treat other students and our team with respect. Harassment, cheating on assessments or the leaderboard, using someone else's account, automated scraping and attempts to break the Site's security are prohibited.

7. Suspension

We may suspend or close an account that seriously breaches these terms, for example by sharing paid content. Unless the breach is serious, we contact you first. If we close an account without a breach on your part, we refund the course.

8. Availability and changes to courses

You need an internet connection and an up-to-date browser. There may be short interruptions for maintenance or caused by our providers. We may improve and update course content; we will not remove the substance of what a course was sold with.

9. Liability

We do not promise a particular result, such as a rating gain (see the Disclaimer). To the extent the law allows, our total liability for a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Personal data

How we process personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to these terms

We publish updated terms on this page and renew the date above; important changes are emailed to students. The terms that applied when you bought a course continue to apply to that purchase.

12. Your consumer rights

If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts or consumer bodies available to you there.
